The Megatron S3 features all different modes required for phacoemulsification including irrigation, aspiration, ultrasonic phaco, anterior (preliminary) vitrectomy and diathermy.
The Megatron S3 features all different modes required for posterior vitrectomy including, magnetic and pneumatic vitrectomy, diathermy, double cold light source, silicone oil injection, air/fluid exchange and lensectomy.
The Megatron S3 features a 15” touch screen, which makes it very ergonomic and user friendly. It has a real time graphic display of all surgical parameters and a graphic indication of all active and inactive parameters, thus everything at one glance.
It is possible to set more than 20 surgeons with their individual surgery type, sequences, and own parameters.
It is possible to select on the footswitch up to 10 functions at the same time. 3 steps forward, to the left side, right side, backward and the 4 additional buttons.

These buttons could be for example selected to adjust the height of the infusion bottle and/or to change the sequences (i.e. from phaco1 to phaco2…) The foot pedal is programmed by the surgeon himself for each different sequence. The phaco matrix includes linear, fix, pulse, burst ultrasound power. In addition the special software features the possibility to perform cool phaco for very small incision surgery (< 2mm) without any corneal burns. There are two different ways provided by the unit to perform a cool phaco. By fixing the pulse/break proportion and modifying the ultrasound power with the foot pedal. When the pedal is pressed down in the continuous Flash Mode the burst number increases until in the last position of the foot pedal a linear continuous ultrasound power is delivered.
Related to the small incision phaco technique, the Megatron S3 features the new 1mm Mini Mega Tip which is patented by Geuder AG and guarantees the emulsification of even the hardest nuclei safely and within a minimum of time.
The Megatron S3 features an SOS mode, which stands for Safe Occlusion System, i.e. the ultrasound power can be activated after reaching a minimum limit of vacuum set by the surgeons. This feature keeps the eye safe from any unnecessary ultrasound power in the eye.
 Only the Megatron S3 features the patented Mega Tip technology which ensures that the emulsification of the hardest nuclei takes place in the needle and not just at the tip but on two more different levels inside the Tip, which leads to higher efficiency, diminished Ultrasonic time with any form of cataract and reduces the risk of damaging the epithelium.
The Megatron features Multi-Layer piezoelectric headpieces which guarantee long lifetime and high efficiency.
The Megatron S3 features the “Anterior Chamber Stability Program” which guaranties a permanent stability of the anterior chamber and prevents surge. There are two different reactions of the ACSP:

1. Through Flow reduction
2. Through Reduced vacuu

 The Megatron S3 offers the dual-linear vacuum control. The vacuum can be adjusted in 2 different ways. The Megatron offers the lowest costs per case since all accessories are also available in a reusable version. This reduces the costs to approx. US $ 10, 00 / case! The long term cost analysis should be also considered with the unit price.
The Megatron S3 features a combined peristaltic pump, venturi pump and a venturi-effect. It is possible to switch intraoperatively between all different pumps. The Megatron S3 is the only device on the market which features an integrated motor driven Mikro-Keratron for Corneal transplants. The Megatron S3 features two efficient Xenophot lamps (cold light source),  independently controllable. The Megatron S3 is a modular system, i.e. other modules can be added later easily via Software update. 
The Megatron S3 features both, electrical/magnetic and pneumatic vitrectomy for both, electrical and pneumatic cutters. The surgeon can change between both modes intraoperatively.The Megatron S3 is still one of the most compact phaco and vitrectomy devices on the market and therefore also portable (comes with a protecting carrying bag for safe transportation). 
The Megatron S3 features the high speed cutter with a linear adjustable cutting rate up to 4000 cuts/minute. The pneumatic cutters can be adjusted from 10 – 2000 cuts / minute! Pneumatic scissors can be used with the Megatron S3. The Megatron S3 offers the possibility for air fluid exchange, as well as precise silicone oil injection and extraction linearly by the foot pedal.

The Optimum MICS setting of the advanced MEGATRON S3 system With Cool flash mode technology have been transferred to the new MEGATRON COOL as well.
The MEGATRON is a microprocessor controlled ophthalmic surgical system for phacoemulsification, pneumatic and magnetic anterior and posterior vitrectomy, diathermy, intraocular illumination and air and oil exchange.This system can be assembled in a variety of ways.The MEGATRON combines the advantages of a peristaltic pump with a Venturi effect, without depending on external pneumatic support.Because of the realistic Venturi effect it takes only 0.5 sec. for the vacuum to build. As a result, fragments can be aspirated "magnetically" with US and I/A tips placed centrally. They do not

have to be moved to the periphery.
The transference of liquids through the anteriorchamber is as little as possible when the system is operated in the peristaltic mode. When used with the GEUDER Mega US Tip, phaco can be performed with an extremely high vacuum.
The computer section of the MEGATRON enables you to store and retrieve your programs easily. Four different users can individually design eight different programs and store their input. In addition, they can use four subprograms in each operation program. The functions of the footswitch can also be programmed for each individual surgeon.
The functional arrangement of the front panel enables you to change and store new parameters even during surgery.
The system can be operated by remote control from the sterile area. The height of the electronically adjustable infusion pole can be changed from the system as well as from the footswitch or the remote control.
Since the accessories are reusable, the MEGATRON provides a very economic operation system on a cost-per-procedure basis
